About Jacky Gomez, LCSW
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) who has extensive training in Acceptance & Commitment Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Solution-Focused Therapy. I have been a therapist since 2012 - and I absolutely love my job! I currently work exclusively with adults via telehealth, however, my background prior to opening my private practice in 2020 has been diverse. I have considerable clinical experience with children, teens, and adults in a wide variety of settings, including in-home services, schools, correctional facilities, domestic violence shelters, and equine-assisted therapy programs. This broad range of experience in the first half of my career continues to serve me in countless ways, and I often find that I am able to support and connect with my clients in ways that are sometimes unexpected and deeply meaningful.
My treatment approaches prioritize insight-building and skill development. I value your time and want our work to feel meaningful and effective. I aim to give my clients tools that are truly helpful when they leave their sessions. And, sometimes, life doesn’t present us with clearly defined problems which can be directly addressed or solved! The therapy process oftentimes reveals issues that were perhaps not so readily apparent, or which were unable to be prioritized, when clients initially began therapy. I welcome the opportunity to delve deep into underlying issues, and continue forward by supporting my clients’ effort to build a life that feels satisfying and sustainable.
Although thoughtful, intentional, and effective therapy interventions are important, I do prioritize the therapeutic relationship above almost all else. Abundant research and lived experience have reliably shown me that any particular therapeutic approach will never matter quite as much as the client’s personal connection to their therapist. I approach my clinical work with intentionality, while also integrating humor and relating to shared experiences with my clients. You’re a human, and so am I. Working through some of life’s biggest challenges with the support of someone who really “gets” you is often just as important as the actual clinical interventions.
In my spare time, I enjoy a wide variety of interests. I love home improvement projects, building furniture, taking care of my many plants, and making delicious food. I currently share my home with my four cats, but grew up on a farm where horses, dogs, chickens, goats, and many other creatures resided. Thank you for taking the time to learn about my background - I look forward to connecting with you!
