FAQs

How do I get started?

You can initiate services via email or phone call. Please include information about your insurer (if any), your availability to meet, and a small overview of what you would like to address in therapy. From there, we will schedule a 15-minute consultation call to get a sense for one another, and to ensure that logistics will work (insurance, schedules, clinical needs, etc). I can typically offer intakes within one or two weeks of our initial consultation.

Do you accept insurance?

I am an in-network provider with Regence/BlueCross BlueShield, Moda, Aetna, Pacific Source, and First Choice (if you have a Kaiser “Added Choice” plan, this is often considered in-network). I offer out-of-network superbills depending on the insurer (note: I do not provide superbills for United Healthcare plans, or any of their subsidiaries). Please see the ‘Rates’ page for additional information.

I can’t afford your full rate and am not insured. Is there another option for me?

I often will have room to accept a few reduced-fee clients on my schedule. These spots are subject to some reasonable limitations around length of service and changes to client finances, which I am happy to discuss during our consult call. Due to the unique and ever-changing nature of these reduced-fee spots, I will not be able to offer specific pricing until after our initial phone consult. It would be helpful for you to have an idea of what you may be able to afford for weekly or bi-weekly therapy sessions before our call, although this is not essential to moving forward with our consult. I am invested in making quality therapy affordable and encourage you to ask about a reduced fee spot if you think you may need one!

How often should I see you?

Most people prefer to meet weekly, and some prefer to meet once every-other week (bi-weekly). It is entirely up to you and your needs/availability. That being said, it can sometimes be helpful to “get the ball rolling” and schedule weekly sessions for the first five appointments. With the exception of established clients who are well into the “maintenance” phase of therapy, I do require at least one therapy session per month to keep your file active.

How long do sessions last, and how long will I be in therapy for?

Most sessions typically last between 50-55 minutes. It is not possible to give an estimate of duration of treatment due to specific and changing circumstances which are unique to each person. Time in treatment will depend on your goals, your engagement in the process (both in and outside of session), and other factors.

What if I don’t like therapy? Do you have a refund policy?

Although I do my best to provide thoughtful, effective, and attuned care to all my clients, it is impossible to guarantee any particular outcome due to the nature of the therapeutic process and individual needs/preferences. Therefore, I do not offer refunds for services provided under any circumstances. I strongly encourage all of my clients to talk directly with me if they are feeling that what we are doing in session is not helping, and will do my best to improve the situation - even if that means supporting you in connecting with a different provider!

Do you offer weekend and/or evening appointments?

I typically work Monday through Thursday, with appointment slots generally starting at 11:00 AM and ending no later than 4:30 PM. I will occasionally make some slight exceptions to this availability based on client circumstance, and my overall ability to accommodate such requests. I do not offer weekend appointments.

Do you offer medication management?

No. Medications can only be prescribed by medically trained doctors, psychiatric nurse practitioners, or certified psychologists. Clinical Social Workers (LCSW) and Licensed Professional Counselors (LPC) do not undergo any medication training and do not have medical licenses. I am happy to help you connect to prescribers however, should you wish to explore this during our work together.

a note on the world being a pretty awful place for many people right now:

We are living through some incredibly difficult and challenging times as a country, and in the world. As a therapist, I view it as my duty (and desire) to stay informed of current events, and make concerted efforts to not be part of the many problems we face. I am a cishet, neuro-divergent, able-bodied, white female who, while far from perfect, is always striving to be an ally to my fellow humans and to not perpetuate harm. You will be treated with unconditional positive regard and acceptance, regardless of your sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, race, immigrant status, age, disability, spiritual beliefs, and/or type of employment. I continue to feel immense gratitude for the opportunity to support clients from so many different walks of life, and continue to be in awe of the diversity of experiences and value that people bring to the world. My goal of providing a safe and accepting therapeutic environment for all of my clients will never be “done,” and I am always open to dialogue and learning opportunities.
