Rates & Insurance
I am in-network with the following insurance companies:
Aetna
BlueCross BlueShield / Regence (note: due to an internal error within Anthem BCBS, I am unable to accept non-Regence plans)
First Choice (often applies to “Kaiser Added Choice” plans)
MODA
Pacific Source (commercial only, not OHP)
Regarding out-of-network (OON) benefits and Superbills:
At my discretion (and prior to agreeing to work together), I can provide “superbills” if you have OON benefits. This is a document that outlines the medical service provided, and can be submitted to your insurance for reimbursement directly to you. If using OON benefits, you are responsible for paying the full service fee (as if you were a self-paying client). You work directly with your insurer for reimbursement; I am not involved beyond providing the superbill document to you. Please be aware that submitting a superbill does not guarantee that your insurer will ultimately reimburse you, although if you have such benefits, this is a reasonable expectation to have. I strongly encourage you to learn about your out-of-network benefits before scheduling a consultation call with me.
Please note that due to potential issues with the business practices of certain insurers, I do use my discretion when agreeing to provide superbills, based on the insurer. I will not, for example, provide superbills for United Healthcare plans, or any of their subsidies. Such clients will be considered “self-pay” and are welcome to see me, without expectation of any future reimbursement by their insurer. This is of course discussed and agreed to prior to scheduling any appointments.
A note on private/self-pay: There are a number of benefits to opting to forgo insurance and pay out of pocket. Your information is kept entirely private from insurers, employers, life insurance companies, etc., and your care is not subject to the many restrictions set by insurance companies. For example, an official diagnosis is not required, there are no limits on session or overall treatment length, and your treatment is not subject to audits/reviews/clawbacks (wherein an insurer retroactively decides that your therapy was not “medically necessary,” and “claws back” money paid to your therapist - leaving both you and your therapist in a very difficult situation, sometimes years after having concluded services). I am committed to facilitating better access to therapy and do encourage you to use your insurance benefits, and I understand that there are reasons why you may not want to do so. If you would like to see me as a self-pay client but cannot afford my full fee, please read my FAQ section.
***I am not able to bill clients who have Medicaid/Oregon Health Plan. It is a violation to accept payments from clients who have OHP, even if a family member is paying for it. Doing so puts OHP recipients at risk of potentially losing their health insurance and owing the government money for previous services provided. This includes situations where OHP is the secondary insurer.***
Please refer to my private pay/cash fees below for current pricing. Payment is made securely online via credit, debit, or HSA cards.
*** In an effort to increase access to mental health services, reduced-fees are available on an as-needed, case-by-case basis. Reduced-fee openings are subject to therapist availability. Clients are strongly encouraged to have a budget in mind when they inquire about reduced-fee services. ***
